Instructor Business Hint 12 - Protect and Promote your Business

Now you have built your business, take some time to make sure you protect it.  There are many things you can do to keep your business safe.  The first one is business insurance. It is very important to make sure that you do not have any misleading information on your website and that you are not using images that you have not purchased, they may be subject to Copyright.  If you need images you can purchase them from  www.shutterstock.com  or a number of other sites, it is not advisable to copy images from other people's websites.  Never use an image with a red cross, even if only half of the cross is red they will start proceedings against you, also never use the words "the red cross" on your website or literature.

If you are just starting out we highly recommend checking the name you choose for your business on a trade mark website, on the Companies House website and make sure that someone else doesn't already own the domain name whether .com .co.uk or any similar addresses. If you are established it is a good idea to purchase the domain names for your business if you do not already own them, buying the .com and .co.uk is usually advisable.

A good way to give your business a higher rating is the star ratings and testimonials you receive. If you would like to increase your rating on the system it is important to make sure you tell your students that they will receive an email from ProTrainings where they can rate you and the course and leave a testimonial.  If they know they will receive this email they will usually reply to it and your rating will increase quickly. If you don't register an email address for your students your rating won't improve.

Having the correct business policies and procedures will not only ensure you comply with ProTrainings and other organisations we work with, it will also protect you if someone makes a complaint or if there is an accident. The ProTrainings system generates a set of polices for you and adds the name of your organisation, it is your responsibility to make sure you review them and check that they are relevant to your business and cover everything you need.  Policies are very important, making sure that you have completed all of the required course paperwork and have obtained signatures is vital,  if an incident occurs during a course and the student involved has not completed and signed their course forms you could find yourself in very difficult position.
